New Delhi: The Apex Court here on Wednesday gave temporary relief to the Goliwada villagers from land acquisition under the Kaleswaram Project proposed by the State Government. The court said it would hear the case in detail in June when the court assembles after its summer vacation. Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao heard the petition of the villagers.

It may be noted that the villagers filed a case in High Court seeking the direction to State Government to stop acquiring the lands. But, the high court dismissed their petition. Following this, the villagers approached the Supreme Court in the case. The Supreme Court directed the Government to stop acquiring the lands till June and ordered a status quo. The State Government planned to acquire lands under the Land Acquisition Act of 2013.
