New Delhi: CPI national secretary K Narayana disclosed that his party would petition the Supreme Court against the High Court order granting permission to the YSRCP MLA A Ramakrishna Reddy to buy Sadavarthi lands tendering Rs 5 crore more over and above the earlier proposal of the state government.

Speaking to the media, here on Wednesday, Narayana urged the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, to intervene and halt the loot of government land by anyone and under any pretext. “Naidu was the custodian and it was his duty to protect the government properties by any means. Naidu could not claim that as it was a court order, he could not interfere in it,” he added.

Sadavarthi lands were valued at Rs 1,000 crore and individuals could not usurp those lands for a petty consideration of Rs 25 crore or so. The Chief Minister should have approached the Tamil Nadu government and sought protection of the lands in the beginning itself and if the latter did not cooperate, he should have sought Centre’s help in doing so.

He released a copy of the letter written to the CM in this regard and said his party would file a petition in the Apex Court against the anomaly.
