Kerala NGO Sangh has approached High Court challenging the alleged compulsion of state government employees to contribute one months salary for flood relief to Chief Ministers Distress Relief Fund CMDRF

KOCHI: Kerala NGO Sangh has approached High Court challenging the alleged compulsion of state government employees to contribute one month’s salary for flood relief to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).

This Petition was filed by the organization’s president P Sunil kumar and Jayakumar SK and they also demanded that the order given by the government must be quashed. Order allegedly issued by the state government on September 11th has been challenged by the petitioners.

Petition said, for making the donation of one month’s salary as ten instalments, is compulsory in nature and can otherwise be called extortion. Government servants have not been given convenient within their limits.

SRK Prathap, Advocated states, “Government have no authority to take away one month pay from the State Government Employees for recovery without their consent is equal to extortion”.

The petitioners contend that the government order infringes the fundamental rights of government servants. Government should be asked to issue an order granting liberty to government servants to choose an amount within their limits. The petition may come up for admission hearing on wednesday
