Warangal: The first Collector of the newly formed Warangal Rural district, Prasanth Jeevan Patil, said that he would strive to provide transparent administration and create a corrupt-free district. In an exclusive interview with The Hans India, the Collector, who took charge, said,
“With the experience as the Joint Collector in the united Warangal district, I would take the district to the forefront in development.” Stating that corruption would not be tolerated, the Collector said that toll-free number would be set up soon for receiving complaints against corruption in the government departments.
The Hans India: How would be your type of administration in the new district?
The Collector: The Government formed smaller districts for better administration. Efforts would be made to bring change in the administration by making it transparent. A target has been set to take the district to the forefront in the development of human resources. Precautions would be taken to prevent infant and maternal mortality rate and priority would be given to improve literacy.
THI: What is your role in solving the problems people face?
The Collector: The objective of division of the districts is to bring administration closer to people. As a collector I would personally monitor the complaints and the complaints received on Monday would be solved by the end of the week. The complaints would also be accepted online.
THI: There are allegations that the officials are not available to the people in the new districts. What is your comment?
The Collector: Soon after taking charge, the meeting with the officials was convened and they were suggested to be available to people. Severe action would be taken if they are not available to people.
THI: Corruption is deeply rooted in the government offices. What would you do to remove it?
The Collector: The corruption has been institutionalised. Corruption would not be tolerated at any cost. A toll-free number would be introduced for receiving complaints against corruption in government departments. Enquiry would be taken up and action would be severe if corruption is proved. The Warangal Rural district would be a corrupt-free district with transparent administration. Anyway a change of mindset among people is desirable.
THI: Warangal Rural is agri-based. There are hardly any industries. The unemployment rate is 42 per cent. What type of assurance would you give to the unemployed youth?
The Collector: You are right. Sizable number of unemployed youth is there in the district. Industrially it is a backward district.
The rural population is 95 per cent with only five per cent in the towns of Narsampet and Parakala. Plans are afoot to establish agri- and cotton-based industries. A mega textile park would come up soon in the district for which already one thousand acres was acquired. Sizable employment opportunities would be created once it comes into vogue.
