Fishermen hold dharna in Nizamabad
The fishermen of Gundlakammarpalli village in Hasakottur mandal of the district took part in an agitation on Monday as they were told that they have no right to catch fish in the lower stream in the village.

Speaking to the media, leader of the fishermen Shankar said that they have been eking out their livelihood by catching fish and rearing the small fish in the stream near Survey No. 79 through aquaculture for several years and it was not proper to deprive them of that right.
The residents said that the surveyor prepared a false report stating that the survey number 79 was under the purview of the toddy tappers, thus hurting the interests of the fishermen.
Shankar said that they would submit a memorandum to the District Collector Dr Yogitha Rana to protect their interests.
