Nizamabad: T-Telugu Desam Party president L Ramana alleged that the middlemen were exploiting the farmers in the Nizamabad Market Yard and depriving them of minimum support price for their produce.

Speaking to the media after paying a visit to the agricultural market in the town on Monday, he lamented that the farmers were facing immense hardships. He said that the State government should take into consideration the plight of the farmers and set up food grains purchasing centres for them.

The T-TDP president said that they would launch an agitation on behalf of the farmers to bring their problems to the notice of the government. The Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should respond to the problems faced by the farmers, he added.

Farmers told the TDP leader that they were not getting even minimum price on their agricultural products and incurring losses.

TDP Arikela Narasa Reddy said that the online sales and purchases were not taking place properly at the market yard. The officials and commission agents were exploiting the farmers jointly, he lamented.

He said that if the online services were perfect, farmers would not be exploited at the market yard. The present online services were not at all beneficial to the farmers, he added.

Rajya Sabha MP Mohan Rao said that KCR promised to convert Telangana State into ‘Bangaru Telangana’ but farmers were still committing suicides and 3600 farmers committed suicides till now, he added.

He lashed out at Minister for Major Irrigation T Harish Rao for making false promises and misleading the farmers. He demanded the government to take steps and ensure that farmers get remunerative prices.

Justice should be rendered to the farmers at all costs, he added. Later, the TDP leaders examined the turmeric crop.

Several TDP leaders like O Pratap Reddy and others were present on the occasion.
