Nizamabad: District Collector Dr Yogitha Rana said that the Sakhi-SHE teams were set up at the district, mandal and village levels to protect women from sexual harassments and assaults from their male counterparts.

Addressing a review meeting of the mandal level officers like Tahsildars and MPDOs through a video conference here on Tuesday, she said that their functioning has to be improved further if the safety of the women has to be ensured.

The District Collector said that the gender committee members have to tour the villages and mandals, interact with the women to know about their problems in the villages and organsie counseling sessions and awareness camps with the SHE team members.

They should then resolve their issues amicably, she added. Collector Rana enquired from the MPDOs and MROs to find out as to how many cases were registered in the months of February and March till now.

Commissioner of Police Kartikeya participating in the video conference said that several women were coming to ‘Prajavani’ programme to register their complaints and advised the officials concerned to take appropriate action on the complaints to ensure speedy justice.
