Nizamabad: Commissioner of Police K Karthikeya said that a total of 1672 phone calls were received from March 10 to April 9 this year.

In a press release here on Friday, he urged the people of the district to utilise the ‘Dial 100’ programme, meant for those living in towns and villages to dial the police and lodge a complaint.

He said that the ‘Dial 100’ programme was started on the instructions of the Director-General of Police of Telangana State. People could ring up the number from their villages to redress their grievances, he added.

Giving out the summary report of the ‘Dial 100’ programme from March 10 to April 9 this year, the Commissioner of Police said that 66 cases were registered under physical attacks, 368 cases relating to accidents, 26 property disputes, 76 relating to suicides and suicide attempts, 1079 other related cases and 27 cases relating to prank calls.

Commissioner Karthikeya said that prompt action would be taken by the police officers concerned on the complaints to redress the grievances of the people. He warned that action would be taken against those making prank calls.
