Nizamabad: District Joint Collector Dr A Ravinder Reddy instructed the officials of the Excise department to chalk out an action plant in providing alternate sources of livelihood to those families who gave up producing hooch.

Addressing a review meeting of the excise officials and Mandal Praja Development Officers in the city on Friday, he said that the State government had declared Nizamabad as an arack or hooch free district on December 3, 2015.

The Joint Collector said that till now, 170 families who gave up hooch production in the district have been identified. He told the officials to provide job opportunities and schemes to those who were skilled by holding meetings with them every Monday.

Excise Superintendent Gangaram, DRDA project director Venkateshwarlu, in-charge DRO Ramesh, zilla parishad CEO Govind, several Cirlce Inspectors and MPDOs were present on the occasion.
