Nagarjunasagar: The district police have been planning to install CCTV cameras in all major towns and mandal headquarters to make Nalgonda a crime-free district, said Superintendent of Police Srinivas Rao.

The SP on Wednesday inaugurated CCTV cameras that were set up at Halia mandal headquarters in Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency. Speaking on the occasion, the SP informed that earlier 1,000 such cameras were installed in the district, and 500 worn out cameras were replaced by new ones.

Stating that as a part of friendly policing and to maintain law and order, plans were afoot to install CCTV cameras in all towns and mandal headquarters, he informed, adding that police would protect the rights of common people and would guard the citizens from anti-social elements.

“After the formation of Telangana, the crime rate has come down drastically with the aid of available latest technology and commitment of police forces,” the SP added. He advised people to extend their cooperation in maintaining law and order and suggested them to bring to his notice if justice to them was denied at any police station in the district.

Miryalaguda DSP Srinivas, Halia CI Dhanunjaya Goud, SI Satish, MPP Nagamani, Nidmanoor Bar Association president MC Kotireddy and locals attended the programme.
