Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that the State government is emulating the principals and ideals of the social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. The Minister was speaking at a function organised to celebrate the 191st birth anniversary of Jyotirao Phule here on Tuesday.

Srihari said that the government was implementing various welfare schemes for the benefit of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society. The Deputy Chief Minister called upon the gathering to read books like “Gulamgiri” authored by Phule and “Eradication of Caste system” by Ambedkar.

He said that though Phule was not highly educated he along with his wife had set up separate schools for girls. Another Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahamood Ali said that the State government is implementing the ideals of Phule and launched welfare schemes for backward classes, Muslim Minorities, Dalits and Tribals.

Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy said that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is striving hard to transform the newly born State into Golden Telangana through welfare of BCs, Dalits and other classes. Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav said that KCR government was spending huge funds for BC welfare and allotted Rs 1000 crore for MBC welfare.
