The 22-year-old Kyrgios, ranked 23rd in the world, now faces another Spanish star in David Ferrer, who upset the hard court event's third seed Dominic Thiem 6-3, 6-3 on Friday.Despite Nadal's defeat on Friday night -- his second against Kyrgios in four meetings -- he is set to become world number one on Monday.

Sania, Bopanna out Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza bowed out of the Cincinnati Masters after losing their quarter-final and semi-final matches respectively in the men's and women's doubles.

Bopanna and his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig lost 1-6, 7-6, 7-10 to second seeds Lukasz Kubot of Poland and Marcelo Melo in an enthralling three-setter last eight match that lasted 96 minutes. In the WTA event, being run simultaneously, Sania Mirza and Shuai Peng lost to Hsie Su-Wei of Taiwan and Moncia Niculescu of Romania 4-6, 6-7 in the semis.
