The Minister said the foundation being laid by the Association was bound to yield positive results as the game catches up with youngsters from the remotest corners of the State.
Nizamabad: The Telangana Cricket Association came in for lavish praise from Union Minister, Bandaru Dattatreya here on Saturday.He appreciated the office-bearers of the Association for going about its task of bolstering the sport’s presence in all districts across Telangana State.
The Minister said the foundation being laid by the Association was bound to yield positive results as the game catches up with youngsters from the remotest corners of the State.
Dattatreya was addressing a large gathering of players, coaches and administrators after inaugurating the TCA Under-23 State League at Raja Ram grounds.
He said it delighted him to know that the efforts being put in by the Association was helping budding cricketers to dream big and beyond Indian shores. The Minister explained that he strongly believed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would take the Association on-board as an Associate member, which once accomplished can come as a morale-booster to the players and administrators, who are leaving no stone unturned to promote the gentleman’s game.
Meanwhile, he appreciated Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) for providing stadiums across the State for the conduct of such crucial leagues and championships.
He advised cricketers to bring a balance between cricket and academics for a rewarding future.In his address Yendala Laxmi Narayana TCA President, said they had firmed up their resolve to keep promoting the sport all over the interiors. He said the response to the league was overwhelming.
TCA Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy reassured that they would continue with their mission of giving a boost to cricket at every level. He said they were keen on conducting more leagues and inter-district championships so that the players could get exposed to the talent that was prevalent and become more competition-ready as they battle newer challenges on the field.
TCA Nizamabad Secretary Chandrasen and other office-bearers Nayeem, Dr Ram Reddy and P Ganga Reddy also graced the occasion.
