Hyderabad: The magnificence of Chhattisgarh boys and the girls from Maharashtra was on show as curtains came down on the well-organised five-day 30th Sub-junior National Softball Championship 2017 at the Government College of Physical Education (GCPE) here on Thursday.

Both dominated their respective opponents in the summit clashes. Chhattisgarh had a 2-0 win over Rajasthan. Punjab finished third in the boys category.

However, it was the girl’s final that saw the eventual titlist display ruthless form while demolishing the hapless Andhra Pradesh outfit 6-0. Telangana State girl’s had to be content with the third place.

What made the event memorable was that the youngsters provided constant top-quality fare, which reflects the abundant softball talent that exists not only in the rural areas but also urban cities.

This was the highlight of the observation made by Riccardo Fraccari, President of the world governing body, WBSC. He was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and the way each State tried tio outwit the other.

Present on the occasion were AP Jithender Reddy, Chairman, Telangana Softball Association (TSA), Dr Pravin Anaokar, CEO Softball Association of India and its Secretary-General, LR Mourya, TSA Chairman Dr P Sambashiv Rao, General Secretary K Shobhan Babu and Treasurer D Abhishek.
