Update: 2018-09-23 05:30 IST

There he was standing tall in his impeccable suit ready with a smile and obliging with selfies ready to answer questions. He was in Hyderabad for the launch of the new Omega watch store, a brand to which he has been attached to for 11 years now.

When I told Abhishek Bachchan that I watched his recent movie ‘Manmarziyaan’, he just blushed like a newcomer and asked: “Oh really, you did, did you like it? Abhishek is back with Anurag Kashyap’s movie after two years of break; his last one was in 2016, ‘Housefull 3’.

Abhishek feels that everyone needs a break, and everyone should take a break. “One should be selective about the work you are doing. It’s important. You can do 10 films in a year, but you must be selective. I took a break because I wanted to,” says Jr Bachchan.

However, ‘Manmarziyaan’ feels closer to the messy reality, which youngsters confuse with love. Love has a different definition for every individual, which is what Anurag Kashyap tries to convey in the film. “While selecting script, I select it emotionally. I see if the script or character touches my heart? The story should inspire me, and only then I say yes to a film,” says Abhishek.

Regarding the response to his film he says, “I am on top of the world. I think, when you work hard on a film and it receives so much love and appreciation like ‘Manmarziyaan’ has. You can be anything but disappointed you know, you are so happy that all your hard work paid off and the people are enjoying the film and that is most important.” Anurag Kashyap will be producing Abhishek Bachchan’s next film with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan titled ‘Gulab Jamun’. He shares,

“It was wonderful working with him; we are good friends. Every director is different in his way, and there is uniqueness about Anurag.” On his next film with Aishwarya Rai he does not divulge much, “It’s a heart-warming story. But, we haven’t put a date to it yet, so it will be too early to talk about the movie.”

The Junior Bachchan has remained busy with his kabaddi and football teams during his break from films. When questioned if sports are his new love he says, “NO! sports have always been my love; you can say it’s an age-old love.”
