Mahbubnagar: With changing season and winter breeze lowering the temperatures, the breeding grounds for mosquitoes have become abundant in all areas of Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Gadwal districts. This has lead to the rise in dengue cases in almost all areas, where in some cases are reported while some cases are going unreported in the erstwhile Mahbubnagar.

For instance, in Mahbubnagar district and the surrounding villages of Mahbubnagar, Jadcherla and Balanagar are under the grip of seasonal fever. Among them at least 5-10 per cent people are suffering with dengue fever. However, the District Health Administration in almost all the go­v­e­r­nment hospitals do not have proper facilities to treat the dengue fever and referring to other lead hospitals in Hyderabad.

“Recently, my wife suffered a major dengue attack, even after one week’s treatment she could not recover, I took her to various hospitals in Mahbubnagar but in vein as no hospitals in the district has proper facilities to deal with disease like dengue,” said. Deva Nayak of Vollur village, who took her wife to Yashoda hospital in Secunderabad for treatment for dengue.

A similar case of den­gue was also reported in Nagark­urnool district on Sunday, whe­re a twelve year old girl student Pahad was diagnosed with dengue. However, with no facilities in the government hospital and even the private hospitals not able to provide treatment in the district, the parents have no other option but to shift the child to Nilopher children’s hospital in Hyderabad.
