Karimnagar: A 22-year-old youth attempted suicide protesting against the police, who he alleged to separate his wife from him. The incident took place in Godavarikhani late on Friday night.

Akkapaka Aravind, resident of Gandhinagar, tried to end his life by consuming hair dye on Friday night. The family members shifted him to a private hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

According to the family members, Aravind and Guguloth Sandhya (21) of Pothana Colony were lovers and married at Arya Samaj, Hyderabad on December 12 last year.

The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Two Town police alleging that their daughter fled with gold ornaments.

The cops, based on their complaint, brought the couple to police station and gave counselling to them. The girl’s parents took her with them. Depressed over the incident, Aravind approached Assistant Commission of Police Vishnu S Warrier, who also gave consent for the parents to take their daughter along with them.

Unable to tolerate the separation, Aravind decided to end his life and blamed the police for separating his wife from him in a four-page suicide note.
