Rohit suicide: HC asks State Counsel to produce original copies
Justice P V Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday adjourned to February 25 the petition on the suicide of Rohit Vemula, a research scholar from University of Hyderabad. The judge was dealing with a petition by Podile Appa Rao, Vice Chancellor of the varsity seeking to quash the case of abetting suicide registered against him.
Justice P V Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday adjourned to February 25 the petition on the suicide of Rohit Vemula, a research scholar from University of Hyderabad. The judge was dealing with a petition by Podile Appa Rao, Vice Chancellor of the varsity seeking to quash the case of abetting suicide registered against him.
The judge had directed the police officials to place before the court all documents regarding the suicide.The judge voiced displeasure when the officials submitted photo copies instead of original documents. When the judge enquired about the whereabouts of the original suicide note and other relevant documents, the counsel appearing for the State government replied that they were sent for forensic examination. While directing the counsel to produce original records, the judge adjourned the case.
