Karimnagar: The State government’s decision to install closed circuit cameras in all SSC examination centres has faced hurdles in the initial stage itself, with the majority of the managements of educational institutions especially that of private schools, are unwilling to setup the cc cameras.

With a view to put an end to mass copying and organise exams in a transparent manner, the State Education Department officials have decided to install cameras in all SSC examination centres and passed instructions to all district education officers across the State.

The education department authorities assured of releasing funds to setup cameras in all government schools and told the private managements to make arrangements with their own expenditure. Though the government had promised to release funds, there was no progress in this regard.

On the other hand, private school owners, who were differing with the idea of cc cameras right from the beginning, have reportedly refused to setup gadgets on the pretext of financial burden.

They even met Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari recently in this regard and requested him to give some time for them and hold the decision for this year. The Minister was responded positively and the government has put off its decision under abeyance, it was leant.

A total of 55,423 students, including 27,540 boys and 27,883 girls, will appear for the SSC exams to be held from March 21 to April 9. Apart from them, 3,949 supplementary students are also attending the exam.

For the purpose, the district administration has finalised 274 examination centres across the district and passed instructions to school managements to install CC cameras in their respective centres.

According to the district education department officials, in every centre, 12 cameras should be fixed from different angles to monitor the movements of students, invigilators and other staff. It requires Rs 70,000 to Rs 80,000 to install gadgets in each centre.

Speaking to The Hans India, Telangana Recognised Schools Managements Association state secretary Shekar Rao said it was expensive as it needs Rs one to Rs 1.5 lakh to install cameras in each centre. Moreover, he felt the students will fell mental pressure and invigilators and other staff would also feel uneasy.

District Education Officer S Srinivasa Chary said all the private school managements were informed to install cameras and it would the department to organise examination in transparent manner and put an end to mass copying. When asked about setting up of cameras in government schools, the DEO said they have not started the work as they were not received funds from the government.
