Warangal: The TRS leaders are at it again. The party leaders who derided and irked Congress and BJP candidates with their ‘Chellani Rupayee’ (currency of no value) remarks during Warangal parliament by-election in November 2015 are doing the same again in GWMC polls.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao addressing a press conference in Hanamkonda on Sunday has described the BJP, TDP and Congress and their leaders as ‘Chellani Rupayee’. He said the parties, which miserably failed to make a mark in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, would also fail in GWMC polls.

The BJP despite having MLAs under the GHMC was limited to single digit victory in the elections. The party state president G Kishan Reddy, who represents Ambarpet assembly segment, could not ensure victory in a single division, he said.

The parties were not trusting their candidates and running camps to protect their candidates. If the party itself could not trust their candidates, then how could the public trust them and elect them, Harish Rao posed.

Hitting at the BJP, he said that party has no moral right to seek votes here. Warangal was not included in Smart City project while three cities in Andhra Pradesh were selected for the project. The BJP leaders should explain the people of Warangal, why the city is dropped out in Smart City project and tender an apology, he demanded.

‘As IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah has not cared to set up a single IT firm in Warangal. But the TRS government has launched various IT related initiatives in Warangal city,’ the Minister explained. He appealed the voters under the Corporation to think before voting in the GWMC elections. ‘Compare 60 years rule of Congress and TDP and 18 months rule of the TRS government. The city is going to witness tremendous development in the next three years,’ he asserted.

The Minister accused both Congress and TDP of neglecting Warangal, the second important place in Telangana during their rule. As a result the citizens lacked supply of drinking water. The TRS government is trying to address the problem with Mission Bhagiratha, he added.

Unlike the previous Chief Ministers, Telangana CM KCR had visited the city several times and sanctioned 15,000 double bedroom houses to the poor. He made a budgetary provision of Rs 900 crore towards many projects that aimed at speedy development of the district.

Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, MLAs Ramalinga Reddy and Aruri Ramesh, party senior leader P Sudarshan Reddy were present.
