Hyderabad: Officials of the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCC L) on Tuesday claimed that its new coal-linkage auction policy will be of immense benefit to consumers.

Addressing an awareness programme on the new policy, here, for the benefit of consumers, attended by representatives of 150 industries from five States, SCCL Executive Director N Srinivas sought to assure them that they would not be facing any hardship in the allotment of coal as experienced in the past.

According to the new policy all industries, barring thermal power units, can participate in the computerised on-line linkage auction indicating the grade from the place suitable to them and the required quantity.

The policy stipulates separate e-auction on various dates for cement, steel and ceramic industries for coal allotment. Thus, only one industry can take part in the auction.

As the SCCL fuel supply agreement validity for about 350 non-power industries will be in force until March 2017, the small, and medium industries will have secure their coal under the new policy from April 2017, an official release stated.

Representatives of industries dealing in cement, pharmaceuticals, fertilizer, milk and paper from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra attended.
