Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) team has announced its schedule to make a maiden visit to the United States of America to promote their flagship program ‘DIGITHON- Digital Village’ initiative. TITA president Mr. Sundeep Kumar Makthala will be traveling in the US from 1st July to 9th July to promote Digital Telangana.

It all started on 17th December 2015, with TITA taking up a unique initiative to adopt a village under the digital literacy program designed as per National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM). This initiative in Telangana spearheaded by TITA made Basar village in Adilabad district, as first 100% digital literate village in Telangana. This event has made Basar village, an entry into the history books as a first digital village in Telangana. Following the suite, TITA has adopted Narsingapur, Nizamabad district, and Ghatuppal , Nalgonda as its next venue to make digital villages and completed the digital program successfully.

These historic events brought highest accolades to Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) from union minister of Communications and Information Technology of India Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad. He tweeted appreciating TITA on the ‘Digithon Digital Village’ initiative as a unique in India. Digithon team also received the Telangana state government award for 2015-16 for digital literacy programs. These events were also added in the IT annual report (2015-16) in page #16.

In pursuing to take this social event further, Digithon team has decided to promote the Digithon Digital village initiative to NRI’s requesting them to adopt a digital village. On 2nd July 2016, Digithon session is scheduled in American Telugu Association (ATA) silver jubilee conference in Rosemont, IL, Chicago in Room # 12. In a note to NRI’s, TITA President Sundeep Kumar Makthala appealed NRI’s to be a sponsor for their own village and join hands in making Telangana state as 100% Digital Literate state.
