BJP has potential to grow in Telangana, Odisha: Muralidhar Rao
Stating that becoming the main Opposition would help the party to get closer to the people, BJP national General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao on Monday said there were opportunities for growth in Telangana and Odisha.
Hyderabad: Stating that becoming the main Opposition would help the party to get closer to the people, BJP national General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao on Monday said there were opportunities for growth in Telangana and Odisha.
Rao said that the party had to seize the opportunity of becoming the main Opposition so as to come closer to the people. “There are good opportunities in Telangana and Odisha since there are no strong opposition parties in both the States.
If we lag behind in Telangana, there is a risk of Congress party taking over that slot,” said Rao. Rao said that the policies of Congress and TRS were the same. “Both the parties have supported Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM),” said Rao, adding that the ruling TRS party cannot tackle ‘jihadi’ terrorism as this had to be tackled globally.
Replying to a question, Rao said that the party cannot go with ruling TRS as there was a scope for alliance with the TDP. There was little effect of TDP now as even the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was not taking interest in the party matters here. “Our party President Amit Shah has come to Telangana twice in a month and reviewed the party affairs. But Chandrababu Naidu is yet to take any such meeting,” said Rao.
