New Delhi: The Advocates JAC has called off their agitation for the bifurcation of the High Court, a day after holding a dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.

  • Decision taken following assurances from Prime Minister and Chief Justice of India
  • Thanks lawyers for their support in making the dharna, a success

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, JAC Chairman Rajender said that considering the assurance given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that he would look into the dispute, they were calling off their strike.

A delegation of the JAC met the TRS MPs on Tuesday morning and discussed the issue at length. They were convinced that a solution would emerge soon. Rajender said the assurance given by the Chief Justice of India Justice T S Thakur, also helped the JAC arrive at a consensus to call off the agitation.

Appealing to the lawyers to resume their work from July 29, Rajender said a review would be held within a month and if there was no progress, then the agitation would be launched again with renewed intensity. The JAC leadership thanked the lawyers for coming to Delhi to raise their voice against the injustice done to Telangana in this regard.

Meanwhile a delegation of the TPCC legal-cell led by Damodar Reddy, met the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday morning to brief him on the agitation.
