Hyderabad: BJP state BC Morcha president and former MLA V Sriramulu on Tuesday demanded the state government to release Rs 25,000 crore under BC sub-plan for the welfare of BCs in the state.

Sriramulu, in a statement, expressed concern that out of the seven vice-chancellors appointed by the government, two persons belonged to BCs where as the population of backward classes in the state was 52 per cent.

Demanding the government to give more chances to BCs in the state, the BJP leader said the budget allocation for study circles for BC students should be increased and Rs 200 cr for 11 BC handicrafts federations should be sanctioned.

Sriramulu also asked the government to release Rs 6,400 crore for reimbursement of fees to students which is pending for the last two years. He demanded to set up a BC commission to look into welfare of BCs.
