Nizamabad: District Collector Yogitha Rana directed the water grid officials to complete the remaining works and be prepared to supply water to 121 villages under the Mission Bhagiratha programme.

Addressing a review meeting with the Mission Bhagiratha engineers, respective mandal Tahsildars and the Revenue Divisional Officers at the Pragathi Bhawan in the town on Friday, she said that the officials should select the respective villages under various phases and supply water on a war footing.

The District Collector said that under the first phase, the officials should select one village in Armoor mandal, 5 in Balkonda, 2 in Jakranpalli, 5 in Kamareddy, 2 in Machareddy and six villages in Sadashivnagar mandal in the district.

They should also take steps to construct OHSR tanks and cement concrete roads wherever necessary in the 21 villages, she added.

Collector Rana said that the officials concerned should discuss with local people’s representatives and tour the villages educating the people about the benefits of Mission Bhagiratha.

She told the officials that they should cross the hurdles and complete the works on time.

The District Collector said that officials should take up works in 24 villages from August 10 under the next phase and complete the works by the end of the month to supply purified drinking water to the villagers.

By December 31, all the villages in the district should get purified water, she added. She said that the staff should be trained properly to ensure that water was supplied effectively.

Superintending Engineer Prasad Reddy, executive engineer Ramulu, Deputy engineers and others were present on the occasion.
