Malkajgiri (Hyderabad): In yet another glaring example of officials’ negligence, the veterinary hospital at Gandhi Park here may collapse anytime. This hospital has been functioning in the same building since 50 years. Every year, the officials prepare proposals for constructing a new building but nothing has materialised so far.

People are avoiding the hospital fearing harm to their cattle and pets. The roof is in the worst condition. The iron rods used in the slab are rusted and clearly visible.

Some rods are dangerously dangling posing a threat to the visitors. As many as 50 people from Malkapur, HB Colony, Yapral and Alwal used to bring their domestic animals and pets for treatment.

Nowadays, very few people bring their pets here. Those who visit once, never return after witnessing the prevailing conditions.

Local people said that the veterinary officials did not act even though several complaints were made for shifting the hospital.

They lament that even GHMC officials are also indifferent about the dilapidated condition of the hospital. Speaking to The Hans India, Dr S Aruna Sree said that the medicines were being sent back due to storage problems.

She said there was frequent power break down in the hospital. The equipment is rusted and completely out of use.

One can imagine the pathetic condition in the hospital if we look at the pair of surgical scissors which is used to keep the doors locked in the absence of padlocks.
