Warangal: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s assertion that creation of new districts would be done as per people’s wish doesn’t reflect in the actions if his latest proposal to create Hanamkonda district is any indication.

The proposed Hanamkonda district has come as a surprise to many here as neither leaders nor public have made any demand in that connection.

On the other hand, the proposal has angered people of Jangaon and Mulug where protests have been going on seeking to make those places as district headquarters.

“It is sad that the Chief Minister who is silent on protests by Jangaon and Mulug public is intending to create Hanamkonda which none have asked for,” lamented leaders of Jangaon Zilla Sadhana JAC.

The JAC chairman, A Dashmanth Reddy, felt that making Jangaon a part of the proposed Hanamkonda district would not help the people who were protesting for a separate district. “Our agitation would be intensified from Friday onwards,” he warned.

A large number of public representatives have made written appeals supporting Jangaon district. But the government has not accorded any weight to their appeals, the JAC leader said. He wondered over the fact that the appeals of MPs and MLAs also went unheard.

With the latest proposal, Warangal district would be divided into four districts-Warangal, Hanamkonda, Mahabubabad and Bhupalpalli. Until now, only Mahabubabad and Bhupalpalli are the new districts which the government consented to create.

Congress district president N Rajender Reddy said that the TRS government, by creating new districts, was trying to benefit only the party leaders, legislators and realtors but not the common public.

“Moreover, a look at the manner in which the districts were being created, the primary objective of administrative ease is not seen anywhere,” he said.

The State government was claiming of taking public opinion into consideration but the way in which it was dealing with the issue proves otherwise, the Congress leader said.

He further said that the government was not in a position to ensure sufficient funds towards infrastructure and development of new districts.

The same is the opinion of CPM and CPI district secretaries S Vasudeva Reddy and T Srinivasa Rao respectively. They questioned the rationale behind the reorganisation of districts. The entire exercise by the Chief Minister was aimed at gaining political mileage and it no way helps the people, they said.

According to official sources, Hanamkonda district would have Warangal West, Palakurthi, Station Ghanpur assembly constituencies and parts of Wardhannapet along with Huzurabad and Husnabad assembly constituencies of Karimnagar district.

Warangal district will have Warangal East, Narasampet, Parkal and part of Wardhannapet assembly constituencies. Mahabubabad district will have Mahabubabad, Dornakal, Yellandu and other constituencies while Bhupalpalli is likely to have Mulug and Manthani constituencies.
