Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday arrested 10 persons, including five students, from Nalgonda on charges of extortion and kidnap, and also for being part of Nayeem’s gang.

SIT IG Y Nagi Reddy said during the investigation of cases against Nayeem and his gang, the SIT team arrested four persons from Bhongir town and six persons from Nalgonda.

In Bhongir, driver Kathula Jangaiah (37), MBA student Puli Nagaraju alias Puli Raju, painter Gurram Shivaraju alias Chiranjeevi (26), Bachu Nagaraju (37), owner of ‘Yuva’ mobiles, were arrested.

The IG said, “The arrested persons were gang members of Nayeem. Along with another Nayeem’s associate Pasham Srinivas, they were involved in three cases of criminal conspiracy, kidnap, extortions and forcible transfer of properties and dispossessed the original owners from their valuable shops and plots and also extorted Rs 1 crore from an NRI and a local businessman.”

Simultaneously, the SIT sleuths arrested a DMLT student Sayed Ansarullah Ghoti (23), Syed Azaz alias Azaz Baba (22), an ambulance driver, students Mohammed Zabiuddin Sayeq (21), Shaik Abdulla alias Chand (23), Mohammed Tabrez (22) and fruit vendor Mohammed Mubin alias Kala Mubin (23) from Nalgonda, the SIT chief said.

He said the gang members of Nayeem, arrested in Nalgonda, were involved in three cases of extortion at the point of firearms and one case of attempt to murder, wrongful confinement and cheating by putting the persons under fear of death. The police teams are making continuous efforts to arrest the remaining gang members of Nayeem, the IG added.
