Hyderabad: Justice C Praveen Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday refused to enlarge on bail an accused in the accident case in Banjara Hills in which baby Ramya and her uncle and her grandfather were killed in July this year.

The judge was dealing with a bail petition filed by R Shravil. The counsel for the petitioner pointed out that the petitioner was in jail for more than a month and it was hampering his studies. He submitted to the court that the petitioner was pursuing engineering and he was in jail for more than a month was hampering his studies.

Countering the arguments, Principle Public Prosecutor Pratap Reddy pointed out that the petitioner was arrested under Section 304-Part II of Indian Penal Code and a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was registered against the petitioner.

He pointed out that the investigation had revealed that the petitioner was driving the car under the influence of alcohol and without licence.

This resulted in the death of baby Ramya and her two relatives. He prayed the judge not to enlarge the petitioner on bail as the investigation was still going on. The judge accordingly dismissed the bail petition.
