Warangal: The city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari performed “Kumbha Snanam” to a portrait of All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi in the river Krishna on the last day of Krishna Pushkaramulu on Tuesday.

He along with some Vedic pundits performed the ritual at Mukthyala village on Khammam- Krishna districts border. As part of the Kumbha Snanam,: the river Krishna water was poured on the portrait for 1,112 times amid chants of Vedic hymns by priests.

Speaking to The Hans India Srihari, who was recently in New Delhi to meet the AICC top brass, said Sonia Gandhi wanted to attend Krishna Pushkaramlu either in Telangana State or in Andhra Pradesh. But she could not do so due to ill-health.

In a bid to fulfil her wish the programme of performed, he said. Several Congress activists, who took part in the pushkaramulu celebrations prayed for well-being of Sonia Gandhi.
