Hyderabad: On the lines of 108 emergency services provided to people, the State government is set to introduce mobile veterinary clinics (Pashu Rakshak) to provide treatment to the ailing cattle reared by the farmers in all Assembly constituencies.

After receiving overwhelming response to mobile clinics pressed into service on pilot basis in Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s native district Medak, State Animal Husbandry Department has now decided to extend the service in every Assembly constituency under Public Private Partnership (PPP) this year.

The mobile clinics would extend required treatment to the ailing heavyweight cattle like buffaloes, cows and oxen which cannot be moved to the hospitals by the farmers dwelling in the interior villages. The vans would be equipped with necessary medicines, equipment, and veterinary doctors.

The clinics would also provide information about the diet to be given to the cattle in different seasons. The Animal Husbandry Department would organise camps in every village once a month and educate the farmers on maintaining hygiene in the premises of animal habitats.

The officials said the services being rendered were free of cost. The services offered through the mobile clinics would not only save the time but also help the farmers to protect their cattle from the seasonal and fatal diseases and infections.
The State government already constituted a five-member committee headed by Principal Secretary to Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department to finalise the bids for the establishment of the mobile clinics.

State Finance Secretary, Commissioner (Fisheries), Director (Animal Husbandry) and Managing Director of TS Dairy Development Cooperative Federation would be the members of the committee. Veterinary doctors and other required staff would be appointed soon. Toll free numbers would be made available in all villages, according to officials.
