Hyderabad was brought to a standstill on Friday after heavy rains were witnessed causing massive traffic gridlocks. Many low-lying areas and secondary roads of Hyderabad have been inundated with rain water. Commuters faced hell amidst pothole-ridden roads everywhere and the traffic remained jammed even after 9 PM.

Rainwater became stagnant on many roads with drivers dreading open manholes. Heavy traffic was witnessed in areas such as Secunderabad, Punjagutta, Erragadda, Khairatabad, Secretariat, Mehedipatnam , Gachibowli ,Jubilee Hills, Kondapur, Dilsukhnagar, Malakpet, Koti, etc. Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahendar Reddy even issued orders to the police officials to help clear out the traffic. Due to the stagnated water, vehicles faced more obstacles with water entering their engines adding to the traffic block.

Poor road conditions all over the city, Metro Rail works tested the patience of the commuters and the traffic was cleared in the majority of areas only after 9 PM.
