New Delhi: Telangana state government on Monday filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking one month’s time to complete Eamcet counselling.

The Supreme Court had fixed the deadline for completion of counseling as September 30. Telangana government had to reconduct the examination due to the question paper leak this month and released the results recently.

The apex court is set to hear the case on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the managements of AP Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association and the NTR Health University impleaded in the cases seeking at par treatment in case the Court decided to grant the extension of period to Telangana.

Their argument was that there could be migration of students from AP to Telangana and that they should have an opportunity to fill such possible vacancies again.

As per Presidential Orders, 85 per cent seats go to the locals while 15 per cent are earmarked for the outsiders (non-locals).
