Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao will be going to New Delhi on Thursday to seek Central assistance for repair of damages occurred due to the recent heavy rainfall in all municipalities including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and also special funds for the development of infrastructure in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao will be going to New Delhi on Thursday to seek Central assistance for repair of damages occurred due to the recent heavy rainfall in all municipalities including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and also special funds for the development of infrastructure in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Rama Rao, along with top MA&UD officials will meet Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and explain the State government’s efforts to strengthen the ULBs and the requirement of funds for various developmental programmes.

The Minister asked the Special Chief Secretary to Municipal Administration MG Gopal to finalise the proposals for the Central assistance, said an official release issued here on Wednesday. After receiving a report from the Special Chief Secretary, Rama Rao will submit the same to Venkaiah Naidu and request for Central assistance for taking up renovation of roads and other basic amenities which were badly damaged in the week-long downpour.

During his visit, Rama Rao will also attend Swatchh Bharat conference being organised by the Union government and receive Rs 10.73 crore as incentive for strictly implementing the guidelines set up by the Centre under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme in 12 municipalities in Telangana.
