New Medak dist brings fair power to the fore

​Medak: Formation of new Medak district is not only historical because of the long-cherished dream of the people was fulfilled, but also because women have occupied top slots in the new district. Appointment of women as District Collector, Superintendent of Police and District Forest Officer has raised the hopes of the people about the way issues related to women and children would get better attention.

Bharathi Holikheri, the newly-appointed District Collector of Medak, is not a stranger to the district. She had worked as the Sub-Collector of erstwhile Medak district in the past and is aware of the issues. Speaking to The Hans India at her office on Thursday, she said her primary work would be to focus on ensuring people receive benefits of all government schemes.

She also hopes to tap the enormous potential for the development of tourism in Medak district. Some of the issues which she proposes to take up on priority basis are water and sanitation, healthcare, girl child education, improving infrastructure in Anganwadis, removing encroachments near water bodies etc.

SP G Chandana Deepti says safety and security of public would be her foremost priority and hopes to introduce effective traffic management procedures to reduce road accidents and provide greater safety for women.

She said she would be available at her office to meet people from 4pm and 5pm everyday and every Monday would be the public grievance redressal day and could be reached on 8332911100. The new district also got a new District Forest Officer, I Padmaja Rani. Above all, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy represents Medak constituency.
