Wanaparthy: Special plans are being prepared to ensure fast development of the newly-created district of Wanaparthy. Collector Swetha Mohanty told ‘The Hans India’ that she would strive to make it the No 1 district in the State.

The administration would ensure that welfare schemes reach all eligible persons and strive to redress people’s grievances in ‘Prajavani’ programme taken up every Monday. Every effort would be made to look into every complaint and settle it and the administration would devote special attention on Mission Bhageeratha and Mission Kakatiya, besides ‘Harita Haram’, she stated.

Expressing her happiness over assuming charge as the new collector, she asserted that development works would be devised keeping in view the needs of the future generations. She promised to take action against those trying to put spokes in the way of welfare schemes reaching the beneficiaries.

The Collector stated that steps would be taken to ensure that every child was vaccinated on time as also providing nutritious food to pregnant women. Facilities would be created in primary health centres and area hospitals for treatment of the needy, she said.

She warned that action would be taken against officials if they were found negligent in discharging duty after the VROs brought the people’s problems to their notice. Swetha Mohanty said awareness programmes would be conducted for the benefit of students to enhance the good name of Wanaparthy as an education hub for decades.

New Superintendent of Police Rohini Priyadarshini, who was also present, said women would be given protection and special teams would be formed to ensure women’s safety. Traffic signals would be established special staff would be deployed to solve the town’s traffic problems, she told ‘TheHans India’.

She said people could straightaway lodge complaints on the 100 toll-free number if they face any problem, as the police would be available throughout the day.

The SP said all steps would be taken to avoid disruption of peace in the district. In the event of any untoward incident, the lower-level staff would be posted to remain alert at all times and people could approach her if the lower-level staff did not respond to their complaints, she said.

She said with more educational institutions and students in Wanaparthy, the police would conduct special drives to create awareness against drunken driving and use of helmets. Incidents of eve-teasing and ragging would be dealt with sternly, as also cases of dowry harassment.

The SP, while seeking public cooperation in bringing a good name to the district, stressed that all shops should be closed by 10 pm.
