Wanaparthy: Distributing chaff cutters, domestic hens and cattle feed (dana) to the live stock farmers on Thursday at the Animal Husbandry office in the district, District Collector Swetha Mohanty had called for wide scale awareness of various government schemes for the welfare of livestock farmers.

The Collector distributed chaff cutters each costing Rs 23,760 to 23 livestock farmers. Of the amount, the government will provide 50 per cent subsidy and the remaining amount will be borne by the beneficiary.

Similarly 45 beneficiaries were distributed domestic hens (Giriraja hens) worth Rs. 4560 each. About 252 members were also distributed cattle feed worth Rs 6003 for OC.

The Backward Classes beneficiaries were distributed ‘dana’ for Rs 2628 and remaining amount was given as subsidy. However, the SCs, STs were distributed with the cattle feed for Rs 1,312 and remaining was given as subsidy by the government.

“The State and Central governments are providing various schemes for the welfare of the livestock farmers in the district.

However, due to lack of awareness, these schemes are not reaching the right beneficiaries. There is a need for spreading awareness about the schemes which will help benefit the poor farmers,” said the Collector.

Before distributing the chaff cutters, domestic hens and cattle feed to the beneficiaries, the Collector inspected the Animal Husbandry department and enquired about the schemes, programmes and other activities of the department and enquired about the details of the beneficiaries.

Dr Vijay Kumar, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry, Wanaparthy along with other officials took part in the programme.
