Justice C Praveen Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Thursday admitted a writ plea questioning the inclusion of Nagireddypet mandal in Kamareddy district.

The petitioners argue that Kamareddy was 70 km away from the mandal while it was only 16 km from Medak district. The petitioner also argued that the impugned action was contrary to the provisions of the Telangana District Formation Act and the Rules.

Jayaraju and nine others of the area contended that the action would cause great hardship in terms of education, medical and commercial facilities.

The petitioners pointed out that even as far as similarity of customs, ease of familial relationships of the residents of Nagireddypet mandal was due to the fact of a similarity of culture and historical allegiance spanning several decades.
