With the draft of national education policy-2016 as the focal point, a ‘Youth Parliament-2016’ is scheduled to be held at Kakatiya University (KU) on October 23.

Warangal: With the draft of national education policy-2016 as the focal point, a ‘Youth Parliament-2016’ is scheduled to be held at Kakatiya University (KU) on October 23.

Foundation for Democratic Reforms, Loksatta Udhyama Samastha, Youth for Better India (YBI) and Vidyarthi Satta are jointly organising a youth parliament session. It will take place between 9 am to 5 pm at Senate Hall, KU.

Deliberations will be held on the proposed educational policy, which was recently released by the Union government, informed the Udyama Samstha state advisor P Kodandarama Rao here on Thursday.

Speaking to press persons he said that the parliament session will help to boost the youth’s confidence in democracy and leadership qualities. It provides an opportunity learn how legislations are made and to solicit suggestions and amendments from NGOs in the field and youth.

Measures needed to improve quality of education in schools, rationalisation of schools, medium of instruction, public-private participation, involvement of public, accountability and governance are the topics on which the discussions will he held, Kodandarama Rao added.

Founder of Loksatta movement Jaya Prakash Narayan will take part in panel discussion from 3 to 5 pm along with Kodandarama Rao, Prof Mahinder Reddy, Vandemataram Foundation organisers T Ravinder and A Srinivas Reddy.

The programme coordinators Ravi Raghavender and P Rajiv and Vidyarthi Satta convener T Pavan were present.
