Khammam: The case of reuniting the deaf and dumb girl, Geeta, rescued from Pakistan, with her parents is turning curious with each passing day. A couple from the district is claiming Geeta to be its missing daughter.

Earlier, four couples, one each from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Jharkhand, claimed the girl to be their daughter but failed to clear the DNA test. This time, Jujjiri Kishtayya and Gopamma, hailing from Padmavati Narsapuram in Julurupadu mandal of the district, went to Bhopal, where Geeta is now sheltered with an NGO, for the DNA test.

About a year ago, the couple claimed that Geeta was their daughter and she went missing since they had attended gospel meetings held in Guntur in 2006. They even produced proof of their claim and appealed to all and concerned to reunite their daughter with the family. They had no idea how the girl crossed the border and ventured into Pakistan. But they are claiming her to be their daughter.

As Geeta failed to identify the couple from Bihar as her parents, Kishtayya and his wife started entertaining hopes that she would be their daughter. The couple made several rounds to the office of people’s representatives and officials in the last six months requesting them to take them to Bhopal for the DNA test.

A Bhopal-based civil society organisation, People’s Samachar, called upon the couple and booked tickets for them to Bhopal to get the DNA test done.

Speaking from Bhopal, Kishtayya told ‘The Hans India’ that he would return home victorious and exuded confidence that he and his wife would clear the DNA test. Meanwhile, the residents of Padmavati Narsapur are eagerly awaiting the return of the couple along with their daughter.
