Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi has decided not to join the opposition parties in taking up the demonetisation issue against Modi government in Parliament.
Instead, party leaders propose to meet the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and submit a memorandum urging him to compensate for the revenue loss to the state suffered on account of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.
The winter session of Parliament is scheduled to start from Wednesday.According to party sources, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the party MPs not to join the opposition parties in their protests in Parliament or participate in the stalling of proceedings.
He asked them to draw the attention of the Union government towards the inconvenience that has been caused to the common man because of demonetisation.
The Chief Minister told the MPs that the demonetisation would have serious impact on the revenues of the state as the land registrations had witnessed a steep fall. The government is not against curbing black money but is concerned about the revenue loss it would suffer, the MPs were told.
TRS floor leader in Lok Sabha A P Jithender Reddy told The Hans India that his party MPs would not join the protests proposed to be taken up by the opposition parties.
“We will however raise the issue of revenue deficit the state is going to face because of the demonetisation,” he said.
Congress and opposition parties, including TMC, RJD, JD-U, CPI, CPI-M, JMM and YSRCP have decided to corner the government on demonetisation stating that the government’s decision has caused inconvenience to the people.
Jithender Reddy said that there was a lot of hue and cry in the country because of the wrong procedure followed by the Centre in implementing the demonetisation.
“We welcome the intentions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi but are not happy with the manner in which it was being implemented,” he said.
