Hyderabad: The Telangana State government on Tuesday informed the High Court at Hyderabad that it is considering revision of the market rates of lands in both urban and rural areas as mandated by the Telangana Revision of Market Value Guidelines Rules 1998 and sought time to come out with a concrete decision in two weeks.

Advocate General K Ramakrishna Reddy gave this undertaking to the division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice A Shankar Narayana during the course of hearing of a public interest litigation petition filed by former Congress MLA and kisan leader Kodanda Reddy, seeking direction to the government to revise the market rates and only then issue notifications for acquisition of lands under 2013 Land Acquisition Act.

The AG submitted to the court that a decision in this regard was delayed because of the new Chief Secretary assuming charge.

He wanted the bench to dispose of the PIL after taking on record his undertaking in this regard.

The counsel for the petitioner insisted that the government file an affidavit to this effect. The division bench concurred with the contention and directed the government to file an affidavit and deferred the hearing for two weeks.
