TDP mulls separate committees for each caste in Telangana State
TTDP seems to be going Uttar Pradesh and Bihar way and encourage caste based politics by 2019 election in Telangana.
Hyderabad: TTDP seems to be going Uttar Pradesh and Bihar way and encourage caste based politics by 2019 election in Telangana.
The TTDP has in fact put up a proposal stating that it would be better if they have separate committees for each caste from village to state level.
The party leadership feels that when they can have separate wings for SC, ST, and BCs why not have similar wings for Reddys, Kammas, Brahmins, Kapus, Gouds, Mudiraj, Yadav and Padmashalis.
A senior most leader from TDP told The Hans India that the proposal to create party committees on caste basis has come to the fore during the state committee meeting which was presided over by party national committee President N Chandrababu Naidu recently.
Many leaders in the meeting informed Naidu that some sections of people left the party as they felt ignored.
The party was losing its grip particularly among BC and Reddy communities who once rallied behind the TDP in the united Andhra Pradesh.
BCs were also distancing from the party and several caste based organisations were being formed.
In the backdrop of this scenario, the only option to revive the party was to woo every caste by offering them a prominent role in the party activities.
After the formation of SC, ST and minority wings, the party has been strengthened. Likewise, the constitution of caste-based party committees would help it to consolidate its position, the TTDP leaders felt. However, the party president N Chandrababu Naidu has not reacted to it yet.
The TDP leaders are also holding talks with associations of different castes and sought their suggestions to strengthen the party with the help of their respective organizations.
If they succeed in roping in these organizations, the TTDP would get a sort of shot in the arm, the party leaders feel.
If they agree, the TTDP can accommodate some of the leaders from these organizations in party posts and also give tickets during elections, the sources added.
