The Commissioner addressed a gathering of students and teachers at Government College for Women in Hanamkonda on Friday, where conference on the topic ‘Building a violence free society for women-student’s role’.

Hanamkonda: Protection of human rights was very crucial in order to uphold the dignity and rights of women in the society, averred Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu. He said human rights are defined in varying manners in different nations. Nonetheless, the underlying principle of any such definition was to allow every individual to live freely without any undue restraint.

The Commissioner addressed a gathering of students and teachers at Government College for Women in Hanamkonda on Friday, where conference on the topic ‘Building a violence free society for women-student’s role’.

The meeting was organised by Sarvodaya Youth Organisation in association with Karl Kübel Foundation (KKS) and Federal Ministry for Economic and Development of Germany, Women Empowerment Cell of Pingle College and White Ribbon Society Forum marking ‘World Human Rights Day’.

In his address, Sudheer Babu asked the girl students to come out of inferior thoughts and learn about their rights. Due to onslaught of population increase and other reasons sometimes human rights of individuals gets violated and girls should strengthen themselves to overcome such things.

The Commissioner told the college students to make use of SHE Teams whenever they face trouble.Noted writer Anisetti Rajitha pointed out that the society was in such a state that women rights were not different from human rights. Even after much technological advancements cases of girl children rejected and abandoned in dust bins and bushes were still occurring very often.

Creating a society without violence against was the responsibility of every individual, she added.White Ribbon Forum Society member Dr Ramalakshmi said women were the major contributors for the progress of the world. ‘Forgetting our rights is forgetting our own self. Girls should be wary of love affairs which often lead to deception,’ she noted.

Sarvodaya secretary Pallepadu Damodar explained the service activities of the organisation during the past 25 years for the welfare of women. He asked the women affected by domestic violence to make use of the Women Support Centres being run by them to get relief.

The college Principal G Indira lauded Sarvodaya for coming forward in conducting the conference at the college. A gender expert V Indira administered an oath of building a violence free society for women.

The society member Dr Vijayalakshmi, GWMC councillor M Swapna, the Women Empowerment Cell convener G Suhasini, vice-principal Premalatha, faculty members SA Rama, Samatha, V Krishna Rao and others were present.
