Hyderabad: Siddipet district, represented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, has been given priority in respect of allocations among 31 districts under the Special Development Fund for developmental programmes being taken up during 2016-17.

The government had released a total of Rs 600 crore as Special Development Fund, of which KCR's district alone has got nearly Rs 260 crore, accounting for nearly 40 percent of the total funds. Similarly, Rs 110 crore has been allotted to Siddipet towards meeting the expenditure on creating infrastructure like roads, bridges, community halls, parks in urban areas, development of tourism spots etc.

Another Rs 7.50 crore would be utilised exclusively for the development of Siddipet municipality. To implement the digital transactions on a pilot basis in Siddipet Assembly constituency, the government released Rs 5 crore recently under the Special Development Fund. Among other districts, Khammam, Warangal, Medak, Mahbubnagar and Nizamabad districts have been provided between Rs 4 crore and Rs 10 crore each.

Erstwhile Adilabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda and Hyderabad have got a raw deal, considering they have been allocated funds totaling less than Rs 1 crore each. Newly formed many districts like Asifabad, Nirmal, Bhupalpalle, Siricilla, Kothagudem, Bhongir, Kama Reddy, Sanga Reddy, Mancheryal, Peddapalli, Mahabubabad, Nagarkurnool and Vikarabad districts are yet to get their share from the Special Development Fund.

Interestingly, among the Assembly constituencies, Parkal, represented by TDP MLA Challa Dharma Reddy, who joined the ruling TRS, got more than Rs 30 crore for developmental works. According to official sources, the Gajwel Assembly constituency has been given Rs 14 crore for taking up 11 road works in four mandals Gajwel, Toopran, Wargal and Kondapaka during 2016-17.

A sum of Rs 8.50 crore has been released for providing 4-lane Bypass Road from Toopran to Doulathabad (Pandavula Cheruvu) in Gajwel Town. Officials of the State Planning Department told The Hans India that sanctions for works worth nearly Rs 200 crore were pending at different stages. Once the Finance Department gives its nod, funds would be released for all pending works during the last quarter of this financial year.
