Warangal: What is termed as a first major stride towards the state government’s ambitious plans to turn Warangal as IT destination next after Hyderabad, the Cyient, a global engineering and digital solutions provider, has commenced its operations on Sunday.

It may be noted here that though the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) developed a 15,000 sq ft Incubation Centre at Madikonda SEZ inviting IT companies to operate in a 'plug-and-play' and hassle-free environment a year ago, government’s plans didn’t make much headway as it had expected.

IT Minister KT Rama Rao who inaugurated the Incubation Centre also laid the foundation stone for the Cyient’s facility on five-acre campus on February 19, 2016. The company then announced to establish a 70,000 square feet state-of-the-art technology development centre, known as Centre of Excellence (CoE), and employ 1,000 professionals phase-wise.

Against this backdrop, the company has decided to commence its operations from TSIIC’s Incubation Centre on Sunday, besides planning to bring up its own facility in about 18 months. This is the 12th such centre in the country. In all, the company has 24 centres worldwide.
