It may be noted here that India Posts on October 23, 2016 conducted a letter writing competition on topic - ‘Set your target and pursue them with attention-free mind’ - for school students of Standards VI to X as part of ‘Bachchon ke Mann ki Baat, Pradhan Mantri ke Saath’ programme.

Mateti Srinidhi, SSC student of Iris World High School at Alugunoor under Timmapur mandal, who participated in the competition, got selected as the best at the district-level. Later, the postal department which scrutinised all the best district-level entries, picked top three from them and sent to the national-level competition.

Revealing that she wanted to become an IAS, Srinidhi, in her letter, wanted to focus on traffic management and road safety. She also narrated about the distractions she was facing mainly due to internet and other factors that deviating her from academics.

Then her realisation part towards her goal. Her letter opened up with APJ Abdul Kalam’s famous quote: “Dream is not the thing you see in sleep but is that thing that doesn't let you sleep” and closing it with ‘Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star’ – W Clement Stone, an advocate of Positive Mental Attitude.

Speaking to The Hans India, Karimnagar Postal Superintendent J Pandari said: “Srinidhi’s letter to Prime Minister that finished top at the district-level has been shortlisted for the national-level competition. State authority has sent it to Delhi.”

Srinidhi’s father M Pavan said he always believed in his daughter that she is goal-oriented. District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, who congratulated Srinidhi on her success, told her: “You not only brought accolades to the district but also to the State. Keep going.” It’s learnt that Srinidhi now stands a chance to meet Narendra Modi later this year.
