Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday warned ‘erring’ officials of stringent action if they had failed to submit proposals for the revival of abandoned tanks and water bodies under Mission Kakatiya – III within the scheduled time.

Holding a video conference here, he instructed the top officials to issue charge memos to those who submitted below 10 proposals under the mission. The Minister lauded the engineers of Medak district from where the highest number of 268 proposals was submitted to the government. Harish instructed them to take up tender process soon after the approval of the proposals without any delay.

Harish also asked the officials to clear the pending bills for the works taken up by local contractors and stop harassing them. The officials informed the Minister that people who migrated for livelihoods are returning to their native places after the tanks were filled with water which would help them take up farming activity. State Advisor (Irrigation) R Vidyasagar Rao and OSD Sridhar Rao Deshpande and others were also present.
