Telangana State keen to collaborate with Netherlands for agriculture research
Telangana Agriculture, Horticulture and Cooperation Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that the State government will collaborate with Netherlands in the fields of agriculture research and explore the feasibility of setting up an end-to-end agri-based processing units to make agriculture more remunerative to the farmers.

Addressing the media after meeting a delegation from Netherlands led by Councilor General at Delhi, Guido Tielman at the State Secretariat here on Monday, the minister said that it was decided to have exchange and collaboration between the Wageningen University and Research Centre, Netherlands and Professor Jayshankar Agricultural University (PJTSU) in the fields of agricultural research.
The minister asked the visiting delegation to explore the feasibility to set up agriculture processing units which would be a value addition to the agriculture produce. This, in turn would give farmers remunerative prices, he added. He said that after formation of the new State, Telangana has been encouraging poly houses on priority basis.
So far, permissions have been given to about 1000 acres under the scheme and the visiting delegates have expressed their willingness to extend technical know-how to the farmers of the State in the poly house cultivation. The minister told the Netherlands delegation that the State government has been giving top priority to the agriculture and allied industries and encouraging them with heavy subsidies.
Appreciating the gesture, the minister also invited them to explore setting up an end-to-end agri-based processing and production units taking into consideration the local agricultural and climatic conditions of the State. The visiting members briefed the minister that though Netherlands is a small country, it has earned the reputation in production of agri-based products, food grains, and meat and dairy exports. In addition, that country also has the distinction of highest exporter of flowers in the world, they said.
